This month, the HRD spotlight is shining bright on Rachel Downall, the Aquatics Coordinator!
“I started working at Highlands Rec as a Lifeguard/Head Guard in the summer of 2018 and became the Aquatics Coordinator in January 2020. My favorite part about the Rec is that we are surrounded by trees and wildlife. It’s very cool to see deer and other animals while working.
My hobbies include coaching water polo, reading, and hanging out with my dog and two cats. My favorite color is yellow currently, and my favorite foods are pesto pasta and breaded chicken.
I’ve lived in the Highlands since I was three years old. The Rec was the reason my parents moved to the Highlands! I joined the Highlands Dolphins Aquatic Club swim team when I was 7 years old. I also have a twin brother who used to work as a Recreation Leader in the After School Program and helps my dad put up the sponsor board for the annual 4th of July carnival held at the Rec. It’s cool to see how the Rec has changed and stayed the same over the years.”
