HRD Board of Directors set goals for the remainder of the fiscal year.

Each year the HRD Board of Directors hold a Board Strategy Session to set their priorities for addressing the short-term and long-term needs of the District. Given the recent changes in District management, the election of a new board member and current Board Vice-President Shirin Bakhshay and the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board hosted two strategy sessions on January 7 and 28 to develop their goals and to provide direction and support to the General Manager and District staff. During these sessions, the Board revisited the District’s Mission and Core Values to ensure these remain relevant and resonate with the Highlands community.

For the remainder of the fiscal year ending in June 2021, the District will focus on three main areas including fiscal responsibility, community engagement and operational excellence. Operating during the COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenge for businesses, local governments and special districts like the Highlands Recreation District. These goals will help the District to focus on weathering the pandemic while preparing to serve the Highlands community for when County Health guidelines permit further reopening of programs and services.
