EEC News - November 2024

October was a very busy month for the EEC!

We started the month with a pumpkin patch and petting zoo with Once Upon a Pony and Trader Joe’s. The kids had so much fun petting the bunnies, chickens, guinea pigs and goats!

Then we had several visits from community helpers.

  •  Recology came to talk to the preschoolers about sorting recycling, compost and landfill items.
  •  Cal Fire station 17 came with a fire engine and a ladder truck for all the EEC children to touch and learn about. It was so exciting to see the ladder go high up!
  •  Deputy Sherrif Danielle Martinez and her therapy dog, Ben, came to say hello to the kids. She talked to them about Ben’s job and showed them her vehicle. Ben was so well behaved as each of the kids pet him.

To continue all we learned from the different community helpers, the EEC is keeping plastic film out of landfills with Ridwell this Fall! To participate in this limited-time recycling drive, bring plastic film like ziptop bags, grocery bags, and bubble wrap to school from October 21 to November 11. Ridwell will ensure it stays out of landfills and turned into something useful – decking material. Be sure to collect all your plastic now and turn it in by November 11.

We also want to welcome our new Monkey Teacher, Melissa Gomez, to the EEC community! We are so excited to have her on the team!

Our Halloween costume parade was so much fun. The kids had an amazing time showing off their costumes and trick-or-treating among the Rec staff.

November and December are filled with extra fun activities as we prepare for the holiday season!

  • November 15 will be our Parent Appreciation Breakfast for all EEC parents. EEC parents will be invited to spend the morning in the MPR with a delicious breakfast as a thank you to being part of our community.
  • We will host a Thanksgiving lunch for the kids on November 21; keep an eye out for more information!
  • On December 20, the EEC will have a holiday party for EEC families filled with activities, goodies, and winter fun!

Sweater weather and warm wishes,

Julie
