Early Education Center (EEC)

Hello Highlands Community!

May was a busy month for the kiddos in the EEC as there have been a lot of exciting changes happening! May had beautiful weather which allowed the Monkey room children to enjoy all sorts of fun outdoor activities! From exploring ice and water, to being silly on the slide, they all had a blast! Our Chameleons and Tigers have been hard at work in the sandbox! If you peek over from the pool gate, you'll see they made it their mission to dig all the way to the bottom of the sandbox. The holes are getting so big that we can barely see the tops of their heads when they sit in them! They've also been passionate about making sand volcanoes! At least once a week, they've asked teachers to make lava with baking soda and vinegar in their volcanoes. It's always fun to hear their excitement as the lava comes bubbling over and to watch them jump back so they don't get "burned".

Another change that our children have adapted to is the addition of the amazing new teacher in the Chameleon room! Her name is Miss Stacy, and the kiddos absolutely adore her! She comes to us with many years of experience in the early childhood field and we are thrilled to have her as part of the team.

As the summer months roll in, we start to prepare our littlest friends (the Monkeys) for their transitions into the preschool rooms! We like to have a slow transition with the kids visiting the “big kids” yard. Gradually, they spend more time in the preschool rooms each day, allowing the children to adapt to the new rooms, teachers, and environment before moving in full time. This transition happens throughout the summer in all the rooms as we say goodbye to our big TK and Kindergarten friends and welcome in our new students.

Next month, we will have an official graduation ceremony for our children who are off to TK and Kindergarten next year. It's going to be a fun end of the year celebration and we look forward to giving our kiddos a great send off!

Thanks for reading!

Warmly,

Your EEC Staff
