A Message from the General Manager
While the fall season of programming is well underway here at the District, we continue to operate in compliance with current County and State health guidelines and orders concerning COVID-19. As you enter the District campus, signs prominently display the face covering requirement regardless of vaccination status for all indoor gatherings including meetings and classes, as well as for pick-up and drop-off at our childcare centers.
Although indoor classes are subject to masking requirements, several classes continue to be well-received particularly youth enrichment, dance, and karate. For others we have modified classes to be taught indoors or outdoors, this is particularly true of the tot classes where both the families and the instructors enjoy participating outside. As the delta variant continues to persist into the fall and winter, the District will look for ways to modify its activities to ensure participant comfort and safety. Our recent Food Truck and Family events were held entirely outdoors and well received by the Highlands community. The Halloween Family Fun Night is back this year with all the activities being moved outdoors but with all the fun from years’ past. Presale tickets are now available. We hope you and your family can join us here at the Rec on Friday, October 29 at 6:30 p.m.
Out of an abundance of caution, the HRD Board of Directors will continue to meet virtually via Zoom and will not reconvene in person until further notice. Governor Newsom’s signing of Assembly Bill 361 will continue to allow public agencies such as the District to conduct remote teleconference meetings per the statewide emergency declaration concerning COVID-19 pandemic by adoption or renewal of a resolution every 30 days. This is when the District will reconsider the circumstances of the state of emergency and health and safety conditions as required by AB 361. The next scheduled board meeting is on Tuesday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m.
