A message from the General Manager
Many of you may be wondering what Governor Newsom’s recent announcement lifting the Regional Stay at Home order means for you and “The Rec”. We are frequently asked by residents and users of the facility what programs are running and what they can expect as the State and County begin to slowly reopen businesses and other services. San Mateo County is currently in Tier 1 (Purple) of the state’s four-tiered, color-coded reopening system. For information on the status of County’s reopening visit https://www.smcgov.org/smc-reopening.
Here at the “Rec” we continue to run a limited operation under the current CDC and County health and safety guidelines. For more information on the programs and services we offer, visit us at highlandsrec.ca.gov .

Virtual classes and events coming soon! Given current health and safety guidelines, we are not able to offer in-person classes and events at this time. However, starting this month “The Rec” will begin featuring virtual classes for youth and adults as well as some virtual events to help bring the community together.
The District is committed to ensuring that our community members continue to remain resilient and have the resources to stay inspired and creative during this difficult time. Check back with us later this month as more classes and resources are added.
Please be happy and safe,
Derek Schweigart
