A Message from the General Manager

At the regular board meeting on December 14, the 2021 Multijurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (MJLHMP) will be presented to the HRD Board of Directors for its adoption, a five-year blueprint for San Mateo County and its partners to reduce the impact of natural hazards such as earthquake, fire, flooding, extreme heat, and landslide. The District, along with 34 other planning partners have been working since January to update the previous plan that was approved in 2016. San Mateo County Board of Supervisors adopted the plan on November 16, which helps to ensure that the County as well as its planning partners remain eligible for pre/post disaster mitigation project grant funding.

Also at the board meeting, the District plans to recognize Portor Goltz, Attorney at law and the District’s Counsel since 2007, who recently announced his retirement from his practice and from the District. Mr. Goltz served the District with honor and distinction and his service will be missed. Everyone from the District would like to wish him well with his other lifelong pursuits, including music which is one of his passions.

The holidays are in full swing here at the Rec including our holiday light display and the upcoming Holly Jolly Holiday event on Friday, December 3. This joyful event is back this year with a few modifications for everyone’s safety. Please note that District offices will be closed on December 23-24 and December 30-31 in observance of the Christmas and New Years holidays.
