Early Education Center (EEC)

Greetings Highlands Community! The children at the EEC had a busy April full of Spring inspired art projects and paintings, flower explorations, and jumping in the huge puddles the rainstorms left behind. But the most exciting thing about Spring at the EEC is that the bugs and lizards have started to come out! We are having a ton of fun making “houses” for the bugs out of buckets and crates. The children have been putting dirt, leaves, grass, and water in buckets or crates in hopes that the bugs will live there forever. We’ve also spotted our lizard friends racing across the play yard but those are too tricky to catch! We are looking forward to warmer weather, more bugs and nature hikes!
The EEC would like to let our community know that we still have spots available for our preschool rooms! Our two mixed aged classrooms serve children ages 2 to 5.5 years. If you or someone you know is interested in joining, please email the Early Education Director, Kristen Lein, at kristenl@highlandsrec.ca.gov for more information. Check out the photos above for just a peak at some of the amazing curriculum and provocations that inspire the children’s natural curiosity and creativity.
