Aquatics September News

The Walls are Here!

Thanks to the work of General Manager Jeff “JB” Brier, Maintenance Supervisor Steve Risso, Aquatics Supervisor Dan Ryken, and the rest of the Aquatics Staff, Highlands Pool has a brand-new deep-water feature! Our two rock walls are installed and waiting for you to come and try to climb them. Anytime during recreational swim, on weekends from 1:15 to 4:15, anyone can come down and try to reach the top! So come up to the pool and see how high up the wall  you can get!

May contain: pool, water, summer, swimming pool, helmet, person, plant, tree, clothing, footwear, and shoe

New Staff!

I would like to take this time to introduce two new staff members to the Highlands Community. Janelle Slightam is our brand-new Aquatics Coordinator. Janelle comes to us from the Bay Club in San Francisco and is excited to be a part of the Highlands Aquatics team. She will be specifically running the weekend swim lesson programs as well as looking to bring new programming to the pool.

I would also like to introduce Julie Liggett as our new Assistant Swim coach as well as Private Lesson instructor. She also comes from the Bay Club and is excited to bring her knowledge and experience to Highlands.

Private Swim Lessons

Beginning this month, all private swim lessons will be able to be booked on-line. We are no longer taking separate emails to set up individual lessons. We will post open lessons on-line, and if they match your schedule, then you can sign up there on the spot. No waiting for emails, or waiting to see if the instructor is available. If you see an open class, you can simply take it and start your lessons! Please note that while our goal is a consistent schedule, there could be circumstances that lead to a few changes. My goal is to minimize these changes and make the process easy to sign up. Look for new lessons to begin on Monday, September 11, with those classes to be posted on Tuesday, September 5.
