Winter Registration for Swim Lessons is near!

Swim lesson registration begins November 15 for residents and November 22 for non-residents. This winter we will take a different approach to swim lessons with all lessons offered in a group format. This will allow us to serve more of the community than we have in the past year. All group lessons will have a maximum of 4 students per class in order maintain safe distances and still give the maximum opportunity for students to sign up for classes. Class sessions will be offered one day per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays providing you with 4 options for classes. Finally, we are changing the format in order to avoid cancelling or suspending classes due to staff limitations. Initial options are limited but as more instructors are available we will be able to open up more sections. We look forward to seeing you and your families at the pool.

Thank you to all Fall Swim Lesson Families!

A huge thank you to all parents who signed up for lessons this past fall! We know that scheduling has been difficult and we thank you for your understanding and patience. We cannot have an aquatics program without your support. The Aquatics Staff and I are happy to be a part of the Highlands Community!

Recent Pool Closures

During the past month, we have had a few closures due to staff availability. It is not something we take lightly. Safety is the most important part of operating a pool, and it’s not safe to have swimmers in the pool with only one staff member present. While we hope to avoid future pool closures, hiring and maintaining adequate part-time staff continues to be a challenge for the Rec and many other public pools on the peninsula given the tight labor market., If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Aquatics Supervisor Dan at danr@highlandsrec.ca.gov
